If you didn't know May is Mental Health Awareness month and I just want to reinforce that mental health is not just reserved for the month of May or just a week it's something we have to strive for daily. To categorize it I would say mental health is more of a verb than noun we have to be able to put it into action with a plan and measurable level of effectiveness that suit our personal needs.

Let’s start with knowing your limitations and tapping out when you need to. There is nothing wrong with knowing how much you can mentally and physically handle from the stressors of life. And BELIEVE ME I'm not an expert but I do know the need to take the proverbial "time out". There are no ifs ands/or buts about it-don't let anyone make you feel guilty whether it's family, friends or your job, because thats what mental health days are for so use them. You have to make room for yourself because no one else will.

Therapy is not a four letter word, so stop treating it like it is. Everybody needs someone to talk to and I don’t just mean your friends because it wouldn’t be fair to them for you to unload all of your “stuff“ on them, when I’m sure they have their own baggage. Therapists are licensed, unbiased and most of the time help you see the blocks you have unknowingly created. But also recognize therapists are not one size fit all either, like any relationship you have to be able to cultivate it enough to see if this person can meet your needs if not, move onto the next.

Burn Out is Real
I know from experience the feeling of burn out, and not feeling like we're not meeting the expectations of others or the high level expectations we put on ourselves, we have to be able to give ourselves grace and remember we are humans beings doing the best we can, every single day. And that's all we should be asking for, any more than that creates bad habits that do nothing but inflict more damage to ourselves than necessary. Perfection is a dream, hold up! better yet she's that photo shopped person (Instagram or print) who's features have morphed so much that it doesn’t even look like that irl person anymore. It’s a twisted manufactured, manifestation of reality which has conveniently decided to exclude the real world the variables that exist along with it.

I want to see you do better, be better and not for the sake of saying so but because I believe we are here on earth to learn and experience not stress and struggle, if we keep that at the forefront of our minds hopefully become and grow into that.
