Personal Style…What Does That Have To Do With You?
Tabby shoes, dad sandals, sheer skin toned bodysuits, Bottega bags, earrings, shoes, etc, what do they have in common? Well, everything and EVERYONE apparently, trends are a common concept in fashion but what happens when all you do is follow the crowd?
There are so many fashion trends going viral moment, like serously I don’t plan on wearing shoes that have me looking like I packed my toes like a can of tuna, to each their own but its not for me. But that's what I’m getting at when do trends unknowningly begin infiltrate your personal style?
I also can get that feel of “I need that” or “I WANT THAT!!!” too (notice the difference), that feeling of FOMO reigns supreme. Don’t get me wrong I too have fallen victim of missing out on what’s popping but I ended up neglecting what style felt more like me. At that point, it feels more like putting on a costume and less like style.
Now you know, this is a judgment-free zone, but I just want to make sure you stay in clone-free lane, plus I want to make sure your bank account remains intact- because trends aren't cheap (whew! They really aren’t, smh). Say what you want about the person who likes feathers, rhinestones and the glitterati but the point is I KNOW that’s me and what I like, i.e. MY personal style.
Style is a form self expression it may not necessarily fall into someone else's definition of “fashion” but that’s what being an individual means, right? Self expression and individuality go hand and hand, I dont know about you but I personally prescribe to the there’s no other me than me aptitude of living.
So what do you think, are projecting your best personal style or are you lost in the sauce of “clonovision”?
